By using the Buddy Pacer mobile application, websites, and other digital Services (such as contests or surveys) (collectively referred to as the “Services”), certain information from the User is collected. Likewise, through the Buddy Pacer application or website, it is possible to share information with other Users, such as friends, clubs, and contacts (hereinafter, “Users”). In certain cases, it may be necessary to share such information.

 

At Buddy Pacer, User privacy is a fundamental priority and one of the key principles in the design and development of the Services and features offered, thereby ensuring security and trust.

 

By using the application, the User accepts the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

The data controller is Buddy Pacer, S.L., a company duly incorporated and existing under the laws of the Kingdom of Spain, with its registered office at Calle Poeta Joan Maragall 49, 10ºD, Madrid, owner of the Buddy Pacer application (hereinafter, the “App” or “Buddy Pacer”).

Information provided by the User

When using the Services, the User may voluntarily provide certain information, including:

  • Account creation: email address, date of birth, and gender, along with other basic data required to access Buddy Pacer’s features.
  • Geolocation information: with the User’s consent, location data may be used to display clubs, runners, and facilitate meetups.
  • Profile information: additional data such as bio, age, reviews from other Users, and profile photo (which may require access to the User’s camera or gallery).
  • Payments: if the User subscribes to paid Services or makes purchases through Buddy Pacer, payment information (e.g., credit/debit card data) will be collected via payment service providers.
  • Participation in surveys and market studies: opinions, questionnaire responses, or recommendations via surveys, focus groups, or market studies.
  • Contact synchronization: optionally, mobile or social contacts can be synchronized to identify potential connections and facilitate interactions.
  • Device connections: information from connected devices, such as Garmin watches, to interact with the Services.
  • Promotions and events: information provided to register for or participate in promotions, events, or contests.
  • Customer support: details shared during interactions with the support team.

 

Information received from third parties

In addition to information provided directly by the User, data may also be received from third parties, such as:

  • Other Users: who may share information about the User through interactions or reports.
  • Running clubs: which may provide relevant information about the User during interactions or reports.
  • Social networks: data shared through social networks, such as registration or login via platforms like Facebook, Strava, Garmin Connect, Google, or Apple, as well as photo uploads from social networks (e.g., Instagram).

 

Information collected during use of the Services

When using the Services, technical data is collected regarding the features used, how they are used, and the devices employed to access the Services, including:

  • Photos and videos (with consent): collection of photos or videos for posts or participation in live-streaming features, where the appropriate authorization has been granted.
 

How information is shared

The goal is to facilitate meaningful connections and provide the best possible Service. The primary recipients with whom information is shared are other Users. Information is also shared with service providers and partners who assist in managing the Services for specific purposes, as detailed below, and, in certain cases, with legal authorities or law enforcement agencies.

 

Personal information or aggregated data are not commercialized for profit. Personal information may be shared according to the User’s preferences, where necessary for business management and Service provision, and where required for legal reasons.

 

Data retention period

Buddy Pacer retains Users’ personal data while the account remains active and for up to 12 months after deletion, unless a longer period is required due to legal obligations.

 

If a User requests account deletion, their data will be deleted within a maximum of 30 days, except for information that must be retained for legal or security reasons.

 

Cross-border data transfers

Information sharing involves transferring data to the United States and other jurisdictions that may have different regulations regarding data processing. If personal information is transferred outside the EU, the UK, Switzerland, or other countries with data protection laws deemed adequate, standard contractual clauses or other appropriate transfer mechanisms will be used.

 

User rights over personal data
